The Right System Starts With the Water Source

Water treatment isn’t one-size-fits-all. Rainwater, bore water and mains water can present different problems, and installing the wrong equipment may provide little improvement.

Focal Plumbing considers the water source, existing tanks and pumps, household demand and the concerns you want addressed before recommending a practical filtration or UV system.

✓ Treatment selected for the water source
✓ Staged filtration where required
✓ UV installed after suitable pre-filtration
✓ Ongoing cartridge and UV-lamp servicing available

Signs Your Water Supply May Need Treatment

Water-quality problems can appear gradually or change following rain, tank contamination or alterations to the water source. Consider having the system assessed if you notice:

  • Sediment or particles in the water

  • Cloudy or discoloured water

  • Unpleasant taste or odour

  • Staining around fixtures or appliances

  • Filter cartridges blocking frequently

  • Debris entering tanks, pumps or pipework

  • An existing UV warning light or alarm

  • Untreated tank or bore water supplying the property

Water Filtration Questions

Does a UV system remove sediment and chemicals?

No. UV light is used to inactivate susceptible microorganisms, but it doesn’t remove sediment, dissolved minerals, chemicals, taste or odour. Suitable filtration is normally installed before the UV unit.

What filtration system does my property need?

It depends on the water source, existing equipment, household demand and the problems being addressed. Rainwater, bore water and mains water may require different filtration stages.

How often should filters and UV lamps be replaced?

Servicing depends on water quality, usage and the manufacturer’s requirements. Filter cartridges should be checked regularly, while UV lamps are commonly replaced according to the specified service interval.

Can you also assess pumps and poor water pressure?

Yes. Focal Plumbing can assess pumps, tanks, filters and pipework to identify restrictions, equipment faults and practical ways to improve the water-supply system.
